Ball Screw Oil Lubrication Methods:
Ball screw oil lubrication is mainly performed in the following two ways:
Direct Application Method: For ball screws without dust seals on the nuts, grease can be directly applied to the screw. This method is simple and direct, but care must be taken to apply it evenly to avoid insufficient or excessive lubrication.
Oil Filling Method: For nuts with dust seals, there is usually an oil filling hole and nozzle on the nut. In this case, a grease gun can be used to inject grease into the nut. This method ensures that the grease accurately reaches the parts that need lubrication and allows for control of the amount of grease used.
Before adding lubricating oil, the following points should be noted:
1. Confirm Lubrication Status:
Before use, please be sure to confirm the lubrication status of the ball screw. If lubrication is inadequate, the ball screw may lose its function in a short period of time, leading to equipment failure or decreased accuracy.
2. Use and Replacement of Grease:
When the ball screw is already coated with grease, it can be used directly. However, if dust or powder is found adhering to the grease surface during use, it should be cleaned with clean kerosene first, and then a new grease of the same type as the original grease should be applied.
Avoid mixing greases of different properties, as their chemical composition and properties may differ, and mixing them may lead to decreased lubrication or adverse reactions.
3. Lubricant Inspection and Replacement Cycle:
The lubricant inspection cycle is usually 2-3 months after commissioning. If the lubricant is found to be visibly dirty, it is recommended to wipe off the old lubricant and reapply new lubricant.
After this, the grease should be inspected and replaced regularly. Generally, the replacement cycle is 1 year, but the specific interval and grease replacement time should be set according to the operating environment. For example, in high-temperature, high-humidity, or dusty environments, more frequent inspection and replacement of the lubricant may be required.
